Centurion
I love the '59 Buicks, and think that this looks like it would be a really fun, unique one to own. Wish I had the cash available!
Enjoy the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1851361679&r=0&t=0
Brian Laurance, BCA #5168
1959 Electra 4-door hardtop
1971 Centurion Formal Coupe
Guest Skyking
Nice looking car, though, I'd have to take that silly lettering off it.....
rocketraider
Skyking- the Pace Car lettering is what makes the car what it is!
RR- owner of a 1974 Hurst/Olds Indy 500 Pace Car replica complete with silly lettering on the sides, replaced at great expense!
[ 08-17-2002: Message edited by: rocketraider ]
Dave@Moon
Park it next to a '96 Corvette pace car (purple/yellow). Now which one looks silly?
This '59 manages to be refined and flamboyant at the same time, much like BMW and Mercedes' best work of today. It gives you a good idea of what was lost in American cars over recent history, doesn't it?
One other question: WHY IN THE WORLD would anybody put glass packs on such an (apparantly) well restored luxury car????
Guest Skyking
Well if that's the case, I will put lettering on my cars & call them pace cars too!
Centurion
The important point here is that a white '59 Electra 225 convertible really was the Indianapolis 500 pace car for '59 and looked just like this one. You couldn't put letters on just any year or model and call it a "pace car". At least this one looks authentic.
Guest Skyking
I understand what you guys are saying about the lettering, but the car is so damm classy it just doesn't warrant that non-original idea........but, then again, that's only my opinion...
