SBRMD
Looking for same info re VIN's as owner of '50 in thread below. Is the A-post VIN duplicated somewhere else on '49 Roadmaster/Super? On the frame? Near the master cylinder? And what about the small cowl tag that just shows a single horizontal number - not the square-ish cowl tag that lists the model number, paint code, etc, but the smaller one sometimes found just to the right of the big one. Is the number on this small tag the VIN, or something else?
Thanks in advance,
Steve.

Bill Stoneberg
From my 48 - 49 Shop Manual...
"The car serial number is on a plate attached to the right side of the cowl, under the hood and also on the left front body hinge pillar."
I would assume that these are the VIN even though my 47 is actually registerd with the engine number. That is stamped on the right side of the engine.
I think you can also find the number on the frame on the top of the drivers side rail.
You have to take the body off though.
Sorry it took so long to get an answer.
