Peter Gariepy
I need volunteers to help with data entry for an online electronic index for Antique Automobile Magazine. All the work can be done ONLINE and at your time and pace.It won't be easy. I figure each issue will have 50 entries. So each issue will probably take an hour to enter. There are approximately 400 issues. So 400 hours of work. If i can get 4 volunteers that'll be 100 hours each.Regardless - imagine how great it would be to be able to search all past issues of Antique Automobile for cars, people, etc. If you can spare time to help me out please message me.Thanks,Peter webmechanic@aaca.org
24T42
Peter,One question - will you have access to the actual magazines?I offered to volunteer once before when this subject came up. Tomorrow is the last event this year for Brass-Nickel so I will heading into a somewhat down time. If I can help, I will be available. I have most of the magazines from the 1950s up and have some from the 1940s. PS - I forgot to ask - What format will you be using?
Peter Gariepy
I have all of them starting from about 1948... anything previous we may need to goto the library.Format is easy... i have an online form you just fill in.BruceW has also volunteered. When can you start? Peter
24T42
Middle of next week soon enough? I have an antique radio newsletter to get out Monday. If I have a choice I would like to do the 50s. I am real familar with these issues as I use them as reference quite a bit for the Brass-Nickel newsletter and web page. Of course, I will do whatever years I am asked to do. John N. Packard
Peter, Are you aware that printed indecies exist? One covers Vol. 1, No. 1 (1937) to Vol. 42, No. 6 (1978). The categories are Ads, Articles, Articles-Racing, Articles-Technical, Book Reviews, Meetings, Meets, Meets-National, Museums, Obituaries, People, Quizzes, Technical Details, Tours, & Vehicles. In subsequent years beginning in 1985 an index is printed in the November-December issue for the current volume. Hope this helps.jnp
Peter Gariepy
John,Yes, very familiar with them. Unfortunately they don't really lend themselves well to the project. The dont have much data in them compared to what we can do. We can do a better job without them.Peter
