On 8/06/03 replaced coil pack, and car ran great no jerking in overdrive.

Today 08/12/03 problem has started again but worse.

Took coil & Module off had it tested both tested good.

Parts I have replaced in March of 2003 Oxygen sensor, plugwires, fuel filter, aircleaner, plugs, transmission fluid, and filter.

Checked codes by entering climate control panel and the only codes I found were C553 which indicates anytime power to the CRTC has been interrupted, and the other one that puzzles me is ECM ? thats all it indicates.

Any suggestions would be appreciated because I'm at a loss>

ECM? is the next step after codes are read out. It is waiting for instructions on what to do next and it does not indicate any problem. There is a wealth of information available beyond the trouble codes, sensor readouts, overides and code clearing ability. Regarding the lack of codes, I would try a new ECM to see if that fixes the problem. The ECM failure does not set any codes. They seem to die with age, rather than mileage. The ignition is pretty much a freestanding piece of equipment but the ECM does control the timing advance plus it runs many other things such as the injectors. Was the fuel pump replaced at any point? I have a fair amount of jerkiness in low speed cruise mode when the converter is locked up, in the 50-60 mph range and if I watch the O2 readings, they will occasionally drop to 0.00, which appears the injectors are actually shutting off ( or no fuel is available ). My car is heavily modified, and the ECM has a hard time controlling the larger injectors, but the sensor readings will give you a hint as to what is going on.

Yes the fuel pump was replaced before I purchased the vehicle. Was replaced with a GM pump. You stated replace the ECM I took the ECM to autozone, and they had the equipment to test the ECM, and they stated it had no problems?

Is there still a chance the ECM could be defective?

Also noticed the RPM in park go from 700rpm to 800rpm just at idle.

There have been a number of <span style="font-style: italic">really weird</span> battery cable problems that have to do with internal corrosion problems that is not visible. Do a search.

Does anyone know Padgetts e-mail address? Need to get the problem solved before Aug 18th. I have to use this vehicle to pick up my daughter from school.

Thanks

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Ok what is tcc? Just about ready to pull my hair out. Getting to point not work it. </div></div>

Torque converter solenoid, it's a hydraulic switch that controls the lock up of the torque converter, and sometimes when they fail, the torque converter will slip in and out of lock.. Padgett is the man to ask though.

One way to check - is if it does it, tap the brake, which will temporarily unlock the torque converter. If the problem stops (for a second or two, it will lock again after you let up on the brake pedal) that's your problem.

See what padgett says - he knows all. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

If the coil change temporarily solved the problem, I would look in that direction. Bad plug, wire not seated? It would be highly coincidental if a brand new problem that resembled the old problem that you fixed with the new coil suddenly erupted. My 2 cents.

I realize this might not be helpful, but I went through the same thing with my Reatta. Replaced the coil pack myself and within two weeks the problem returned. As I was out of ideas, I took the car to my mechanic. Turns out the new coil pack I had installed was defective. He installed a new one, I returned the defective one to the store and all was well.

It might make sense to return your coil pack as defective and try a new one.

Yep got the little critter fixed. #6 spark plug dead. Replaced all 6 with GM plug wires. But #6 plug wire was giving me all the problems.
