Old picture of first antique car

Recommended Posts

I always liked Kieer31's picture of when he bought his first 31 Dodge, which is still under re-construction.

I ran across this picture of my first 1934 Ford, when I was 26 years old  (1972).   With a one car garage this

car had to be worked on in the yard because my wife's 65 Mustang Conv. had position of the garage.   I finished

the car in 1973 and the Glidden Tour came to town and I was hooked.

Drove that car in many Glidden Tours and kept it for 26 years.   We moved to a house with a 2 car garage, then 5

cars and finally 13.   Had another 100 cars and enjoyed 41 National Tours including 11 Great Races, 13 Glidden's, 6

or 7 Sentimental's, 5 Founder's and countless Regional Tours.  Met many wonderful people and would not trade

this hobby for any other.   Getting close to time/age to downsize.

Hi,

You asked for it.

Here it is:

Folks have ID it as a '31 Model A.

Most likely the photo taken in 1953 or '54.

In our side yard under the apple tree.

$15.00 and, if I remember, free delivery. Frame included.

The body followed me to school where I put it together with a '32 Ford frame and 6 wheels  and sold the package for $50.00

14 years old with my 941 Olds 6. The car was about 21-22 years old at the time but back then a 10-15 year old car was an exception on the road. One in good shape was even less common.

I also had a 1939 Buick Special at the time but that had not been treated as well.

Both pictures were taken in the spot where my garage stands today.
