1966 Plymouth satellite - 22k CAD - Petrolia, Ontario - SOLD

Another one that's a good price (IMO), but I don't think it's original. Did the Satellite come with a 440 in 1966? Or is it the wrong year that's posted? Tried getting the data plate or any details from this but no response so feeling like a scam, but maybe others can shed some light.

Not a 440 car, but likely not a scam. In 1967 the "B" body Plymouth Belvedere/Satellite sub model GTX was equipped with a 440 or optionally 426 Hemi. In 66 you could order a 426 Hemi in a B body Satellite. OK, this car is on the money if you want a decent muscle driver @ $27000 Canadian=$19600 US. On the USA border also.

Ok good to know. Was thinking it might be a mislabelled '67, but I dont' know enough about the differences to know if it's mislabeled or not.

440s were available in the big cars (Fury) in 66, and its a fair bet it was on the option list for Belvedere/Sattelite as well. If I had any books handy I would look. It would be an unusual option in 1966 though. No matter. This is a 67. 66s have two headlights and rather different looking tail lights and trim on the trunk lid. Since the GTX existed in 67, and it is essentially a Sattelite with 440 or 426 and maybe some heavier duty chassis stuff, a 440 Sattelite would be an even weirder order. I am still thinking it was probably available if you asked for it.

The fifth digit of the VIN will tell you what it was built with. I would bet an awful lot it wont prove to be a 440.

P.S. the good heads and manifolds didn't come until 68.

The interior does appear to be 1966. The back is 1967. I doubt any of the exterior trim interchanges directly between years, even where it looks similar. That's just how Chrysler rolled in those days. Here is a 66:
