Electronic Ignition Module

This is sometimes called a coil pack and I got one for $89 for my '89 while I was at an exhaust shop that just picked up the phone and called for one. The problem with these coil packs is that they have wires conncecting to base plate and the clips sometimes fry and then there is a crack that developes going to a corner of the pack and generally taking out at least one coil. The other result is that the plugs work harder to fire, carbon starts to build up and the plug starts backing out of its installation point. It feels like a driveline vibration .

Have been wondering if you can replace the entire ESC/CoilPack with the later 3 piece unit. Know you could not just change the coils. Quick comparison of a '92 and '88 ESC looks like the connections are the same. Has anyone ever tried ?

FlyByNight - Yes, item 4 is the part I am looking for. AutoZone has it for $127, but couldn't find at GMPartsDirect.

Thanks,

Chuck
