58L-Y8 Posted September 3, 2023 Share Posted September 3, 2023 For Sale:1968 Mercury Montego MX Convertible - $8,900 - Manchester, NH 1968 Mercury Montego MX convertible for sale by owner - Manchester, NH - craigslist Seller's Description: 5.0 302ci engine C4 trans. Previous owner had transmission rebuild work done. Looks to be a reman. Engine very clean internally. Suspect it may have gotten a long block. I replaced intake and carb 2 years ago with a 4 barrel and valley was spotless. Have pics. Recent tune up. Runs well. Full stainless dual exhaust installed. Nice tone, but not loud. All brakes have low mileage. Mono tube shocks replaced all around. New wheels and tires. The old wheels and hubcaps to go with the car. Original radio in car, but newer Bluetooth radio mounted under glove box is wired to speakers. Top shows it’s age, but works as it should. Have new side seals that haven’t been installed. Overall solid vehicle. 55 year old car could use a few things, but shows well with patina. Good driver to tinker with. Owned for the last few years, but honestly don't have time to appreciate with schedule demands. Inquire for more info. The Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-1975, Edited by John Gunnell states 3,248 1968 Mercury Montego MX Convertibles built. Note: The main convertible top frame hinge component framing the rear of the quarter windows is an aluminum casting which isn't strong enough to take much stress, cracks easily and is unobtainable.
