Trunk Release Question

Hello,

 

The trunk does mot pop open when I push the release button in the glove box.  Is there a fix for that?

The trunk lid latch is merely to unlock the trunk lid.

There are no means for it opening except your hand under the lower lip to the lid itself.

Gas springs are shot and need to be replaced.

Okay.  For theft reasons the ignition key has to be in the ignition and in the 'ON' position.  Now push the button in the glove box.

But the gas struts are NOT meant to lift the trunk lid from the closed position, merely to hold it up. They help along the 'lift', that's all.

Thanks for the help.  The glove compartment trunk release worked fine with the key in the on position.  I replaced the trunk struts yesterday and now all is working fine.
