1926 or 27 Dodge/Graham Brothers Screenside.

Recommended Posts

Just picked up this DB/GB that was listed as a 1926. The S/N number would indicate that it was built in January of 1927, but I believe the engine is a Fast Four (distributor through the head). Do you think that would that be correct for the truck? I haven't got it home yet to do a thorough inspection, but it seems to be fairly complete other than missing the window regulators and top. Any info on this type of rig would be appreciated.

Some good info on Wiki for Varney in case you're interested.

Varney Air Lines - Wikipedia

I'd agree, 4 cylinder is correct for that year.

Very interesting truck. Should be the DCT 3/4 ton if it's 116" wheelbase. Frame should be stamped with a letter (E,S or D) followed by six digits. Usually stamped very lightly and may be hard to see without a magnifying glass or good light.

I figured that the four-cylinder engine was correct, guess I was surprised that it was a fast four engine based on the build date of the truck. When I get it home I'll look for the number on the frame.

Any luck on the frame #?

BTW, I came across this snippet today in a magazine called "The Wright engine builder v. 10-12, Inc (1928-1930)"

I know it's a bit off topic, but thought you might enjoy it as it relates to the airline that owned your truck at one point.
