KEK
Hugh - Thanks for the additional photos of the floorboard covering material. It seems to me the 3 low mileage cars you have documented all have black smooth linoleum so until some else documents a car with black ribbed linoleum it looks like the smooth black marmoleum would be the best choice for replacement. Attached is a photo showing the back side of the 3 samples I posted earlier. Also attached is a close up photo of the black ribbed linoleum in my 25-24. It looks like a small dap of contact glue was used to adhere it to the wood floorboards. You’re correct my trim piece are extruded 1-inch aluminum T-molding and not zinc. Larry - are your trim pieces 3/4” like Leif’s? Are any original cars 1-inch? Ken
Hubert_25-25
Ken, As far as I can tell, they did not use contact cement to hold the flooring to the boards. That is the function of the metal trim to keep things in place. The linoleum that I used is a lighter grey. "battleship linoleum". If I were to do it over again, I would use the black Marmoleum as it is yet one more step closer to the original material. I did find better photos of the floor board zinc trim. The 3/4" dimensions match both Leif and Scott. Regarding the running board trim that Larry mentioned. The Master zinc trim has ribs on the top side. The Standard is smooth on top. Both have dimpling around the screw head on the side. (Incorrect running board on the standard example). Running boards were made from 3 boards - tongue and grooved. KEK
Hi Hugh - I think we can conclude from the 3 original or low mileage cars you documented that the model 24 has a smooth black linoleum floorboard covering held in place with 3/4-inch zinc trim. The best reproduction would be to use smooth black marmoleum and 3/4-inch aluminum T-molding. Thanks for sharing this research with us. If anyone has different information please share. I would be especially interested in there are any original or low mileage cars with black ribbed linoleum floorboard covering. Thanks, Ken
