larryabbott
Hi, can anyone recommend a supplier for a Carter carb rebuild kit? This is for a '62 Invicta, 401 nailhead, 4 barrel.. There are a variety of numbers on the carb that may or may not be relevant: choke, 7235; Climatic Control knob, A3478S; passenger side body of carb, 1585. Regarding the CC knob, it was set on lean (second marker from left); should it be set in the center? Location is Maine, basically sea level. Thanks for any suggestions, Larry
carbking
You might wish to re-check the A3478S. It should NOT be on a Buick. However, if you wish a kit, no problem. Jon.
NTX5467
The automatic choke thermostat (knob) can be set at places other than "in the middle". The other deal is that with time, the thermostatic spring can tighten, which will then need a bit leaner setting than the factory spec setting. The choke plate should just close at about 70 degrees F ambient, as the engine has not been run that day so everything is at that temperature. When the engine starts, the choke pull-off mechanism will start to work to open the choke plate a specified amount so the enigne will not run too rich after initial start-up.
