1910 Flanders 20 How to find Top Dead Center on #1 and do the engine timing

I'm wanting to know how to find TDC on number one piston also the shifting location of each gear and neutral and which gear is which. Thanks

• #1 is typically the front cylinder. 
• Remove spark plug.
• Rotate engine until pistion is at the top of the cylinder.
  • thumb over spark plug hole to feel increase in pressure.
  • insert a straw or stick to see the pistion rise to the top.
  • check timing marks on flywheel to verify. 
  • Verify that both intake and exhaust valves are closed.

Thanks for the help but on the Flanders you can't reach the piston to see its position it must have a timing mark somewhere particular to the Flanders? mark

When #1 piston is up it should be close to the spark plug hole. 

Put a straw into the hole to feel the top if the piston when it is up.
