johns29
Okay all you Pre-war Buick guys. I am in search of a gas cap for a 1929 Buick Model 27 Series 116. I am told only a 29 will fit. I have tried 2 other different ones and they were both too small. I tried Bob's Automobilia and couldn't find one there. Does anyone have one they can part with or know where I can get one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, John
Bill - 29 Buick
John: The original 29 Buick cap is a one-off aluminum cap which is reasonably difficult to find. Bob Sheppard, in Australia, makes a repro out of stainless steel, which Bob’s Automobilia generally has for sale. There are generic caps that fit - I used one for several years before I found an original one. Measure outside of fuel filler pipe and inside where the tangs lock into place and then ask at an auto parts store, wrecking years or look for something that will fit at a flea market.
