Seller's Description

1989 Buick Reatta · Personal Luxury Coupe The Buick Reatta was Hand-Built at the Reatta Craft Center in Lansing, Michigan. Available Model-Year '88-'91, there were less than 22,000 Buick Reatta's ever sold. This car is an Investment Opportunity. A means of comfortable stylish transportation, yes. But, with a car like this, you know that (with proper care and maintenance) You will likely sell the car for as much, or more than you purchased it for. This car's Value is only Appreciating with time. If you are going to get a Reatta; You've got to get an '88 or '89. These 2 years of production the Reatta came with an impressively complex and useful Factory Touch-Screen referred to Buick as the "ECC"(Electronic Control Center). ELECTRONIC CONTROL CENTER This Touch-Screen and digital display technology is known as Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT). Many refer to the touch screen itself as the CRT. I will refer to it as Buick does by the acronym "ECC". Through this screen you control the Climate, Radio Presets and EQ, monitor your Trip Progress and Status, Real-time and Trip Fuel Economy(MPG), set Reminders on certain dates in the Calendar, set an Over-Speed Alarm (car will notify you if exceeding set limit). The Diagnostics button will bring up a number of different subcategories and allows you to do a basic check-over of essential fluid levels and the like. Pressing the Gauges button shows 3 real time values (RPM, Engine Temp, and Oil Pressure) simultaneously via digital display. Yes... a FACTORY Touch-Screen, and Digital Dash/Speedometer in '89... BUT Wait, if you do any of your own maintenance IT GETS WAY BETTER.. When troubleshooting, the most valuable information is accessed by entering Service Mode on the ECC. This is done by holding down the WARM and OFF buttons on the Climate screen. Once there, you are prompted to choose from ECM, BCM, or IPC. You can view/reset any Fault Codes stored in the car's computers. Accessing each of these(ECM,BCM,IPC) you can view the real time status and readings from sensors that control everything about this car. You can even drive around while the ECC is in "Service-Mode" thus allowing you to monitor readings from different sensors in real-life driving conditions. As you could imagine this is not only a neat novelty feature (all done through a touch-screen from the 80's) This is an extremely powerful on-board Diagnostics System. Had a surging idle condition that was fixed by replacing the ECM. Was an instant fix and the engine runs smooth and efficiently now, at all times. The 3.8L V6 engine is factory rated at 165hp, 210lb/ft. of torque, and runs smooth and quiet. The transmission does an excellent job translating power from the engine to the wheels, and shifts between gears are smooth and appropriate for driving style.
