This is a dead giveaway that your timing is too advanced.  Again, I suggest you adjust timing to fire just past TDC to get it running.

Maybe I should move this to the "Restorations" thread. I discovered today the engine is stuck (in neutral with clutch disengaged). Magneto turns freely and valves seem free; crank won't turn at all. I suppose the next step is to expose the timing gears. Perhaps this was the cause of the odd behavior.

 

I suppose I'm lucky it wasn't running when this occurred.
