Rondo
Does anyone know if the weather strip goes on the trunk lid or on the body ?
jpage
I believe that there should be a channel, about 1/2 in wide that runs around the body opening. The weatherstrip fits into this channel. The photo is of a '36 but I think the set up is the same. There are two sizes of this shape extrusion, this is the smaller of the two.
Macsmopars
My two cents worth. With my 40 and 41 Plymouths rubber was on the body, EXCEPT for the lower part of the lid. I attach that to the lid. Tried both ways in that area and even after slight use the rubber would leave that area. Especially if someone's kids or grandkids would sit in the trunk area when the lid was opened. Rondo
When I first got the car it seemed like remnants of a seal was attached to the lid itself, 90% of the seal was gone. Thanks guys.
TrevorHB
The weather strip goes on the decklid, that lets the excess water run in the body channel. Trevor
