wayne sheldon
An interesting early and seldom heard about car. It appears to be an early steering wheel car. Legend has credited a few early cars with being the first to use a steering wheel. 1901 is one of the usual years given. However, a few cars were using steering wheels a bit earlier, including a French racing car in 1898 if I recall correctly? I wonder what type of lamps those are? They look almost like they could be carriage 'candle lamps'? They used a spring in the tube below the main body of the lamp that raised the candle as it burned to keep the flame centered in the main lamp body and reflectors. They could also be some sort of carbide or oil lamp. However, those rarely had a tube below the main lamp body. There were a lot of odd lamps in those early years of automobiles.
