Owner of 90 reatta convertible since last June. Took it out for a run this past weekend and noticed the transmission would not shift when accelerating hard. It works fine with normal operations. But when I accelerated hard onto the entrance ramp it would not shift gears. If I would lift off the accelerator it would shift, and then would run fine. I had the transmission fluid and filter changed in June. The transmission isa rebuilt on. Any suggestions? thanks

What sort of rpm are you seeing before you determine it is not shifting? 4800-5200 would be about the right range for full throttle shifts. The Throttle Valve (TV) cable and the governor in the output shaft pretty much control the high and full throttle shifting.

My 88 has done the same thing for years. If I accelerate hard & let the RPM's get high, it will not shift unless I coast to under 45 MPH. I recall reading a post on this about a year ago but I was unable to find it. The tranny operates fine under all other conditions so I have never attempted a repair. I chose to follow the advise "If it hurts when you do this, don't do that!"
