Wally99
I recently purchased a 1924 Chrysler Roadster project. I have been trying to find any marking on the car to identify the year. The FEDCO plate is missing. There is a Chrysler plate on the fire wall but it has no ID numbers on it. I have searched the frame but cant find any stamping. The car came with two engine blocks both removed from the car. One has an ID # G 103995 the other is G 155727. If any one can assist me in wear to locate a frame ID or where how to identifying the blocks I would be most grateful.
hwellens
"G" engine was used in 1925-26 for the Model 70's. The 1924 engine prefix was "B"
viv w
1924 and 1925 engines both had B prefix, 1926 and 1927 used the G prefix. Engine G103995 is a 1926, the G155727 is a 1927 one. 1924 and 1925 cars did not have fedco plates, but the Chrysler tag on the firewall had a serial number. As you say the fedco number on the dash is missing, perhaps you can load a picture of the instrument panel/dash of the car, this will help to tell what car you have

Wally99
Thank You for the info and quick response. Looking above or on the instrument panel shows no markings. There is a depressed area on dash were a FEDCO plate would be. Now has light switch and hole. No numbers on the Chrysler tag on fire wall. Possibly had an engine swap over the ninety plus years. appreciate your impute in solving the year of the engine and car.
viv w
The guages you have are for a 1926 model G70. Check that they fit into the hole in your dashboard. The dashboard on the 1926 and 1927 look the same, but the 1927 guages will not fit a 1926 dash. Yes the switch is fitted where the fedco plate would have been. Wally99
Guages fit the hole. Looks like the car is a 1926 model G 70. Amazing! I have paper work going back to 1966 with pictures dating this car as a 1924. Thanks Viv W, hwellens.
Dave Deppe
I have a 1924 B70 Phaeton. the serial number is stamped on the top of the frame at the left rear, near the back spring mount. Also on the plate on the firewall. The engine number is stamped on the top of the timing cover. There is no FEDCO number on the dash, I believe those started some time after 1924. Wally99
Went looking on the spring mount, No luck. Hard to understand how that could disappear. Thanks for the pics, your car looks great.
Dave Deppe
This page from the Tad Burness book "American Car Spotters Guide 1920-1939" states that the Fedco numbers started on the 1926 Chryslers.
