GM Sports Mirrors

Recommended Posts

I have looked online and found very little information on the Sports Mirrors used in the '70's and into the '80's.

One Buick forum believes the heads were the same (70-72) on all GM products (maybe not Camaro/Firebird) but each

division used their own base to get the proper door to mirror location..... bases have a number on them...

Example..the Buick reference says #29855 is the left, #29845 is the right.

There seems to be very little detailed information....If you have knowledge, maybe we can post it here in one spot for all GM owners.

That is correct. The heads were the same but the uprights were different due to differences in the contours of the door skin. Of course, this excepts the 1970 Oldsmobile sport mirrors that were unique to that year and application.

These are the 1970 Olds mirrors.

Were the 1970 sports mirrors only used on the Hurst Olds?

There was no 1970 H/O. Those were the only sport mirror used on the 1970 Olds A-body cars. Olds didn't start using the squared off ones like the rest of GM until the 1971 model year.
