Stephen Rosen
If someone could identify what this part is and what it fits. I was told the gears are part of it. Thank you. Steve
1912Staver
It's the mounting for a Bosch magneto conversion. Most likely for Model T Ford but they were also made for Fordson tractors and possibly a few other applications.. A reasonably desirable part, especially with the drive gears. Mark Wetherbee
It is an accessory drive to add a magneto to replace a timer. Bosch made them to be more reliable than the early coil driven timer systems. They are especially popular with racing applications and now the speedster builders. I could be wrong, but it looks like a setup for the earlier Model T Ford cars before the generator was added. The casting would bolt to the front replacing the timer with the larger gear and would drive a magneto on the side of the engine. If it is for the T it would not work on later engines as there’s a generator mounted about where the magneto would be. I will send you a private message with a rough idea of value if you plan on selling it. It looks like a really good quality unit and should be very desirable to the right person! Mark Wetherbee
We were typing at the same time, and Greg brings up a good point that it could also be for the Fordson tractor. Someone will know for sure.
dustycrusty
To fit a model T. Ford I dont think those extra gears go with it.
