MKMIII
I need to change the REAR PLUGS on my 1992 V-6 3.1 Ltr. engine. I have the original factory manual ( 4" thick one ). I have tried doing this before, but was not certain how far forward I could rotate the engine without hurting or breaking something. Can anyone offer assistance? Or thoughts. Much appreciated
certjeff1
They used to sell a tool that would take the place of the top wishbone motor mount. That would screw in to pull the engine forward and then hold it so you could get to the three by the firewall. Thexton P/N419.
Oldtech
You don't say what the engine is in but...I had a Lumina van with 3.1. Changed them blind several times. If you took the air filter and the stud that held it out you can reach around and get them. If it has the original type wires they have a better boot on the rear than the front that keeps all the crap out. Never had a problem. Never saw the completed install.
