Desertexplorer
Anyone know how many 1907 08 Model S Buicks have survived? Not much on the web on these brass era Buicks. thanks!
Larry Schramm
With only 69 built in 1907 and 373 built in 1908, it is doubtful there are any that have survived. The roadsters had a much more limited market compared to touring cars where the whole family could go together. The Horseless Carriage and Buick directory do not list any model S cars. Do you think you might have found one? If so can you post some pictures and a picture of the VIN# ?
Desertexplorer
Just doing a quick search on the web it appears there may be one 08 Model S but nothing on the 07. I know of an 07 frame but not of any complete cars. 69 automobiles manufactured sure is a longshot of any survivors...
dibarlaw
I know a number of years ago I believe a model S showed up for sale in the Buick Bugle. I inquired at the time and the description was that it was completely disassembled and the parts were distributed throughout the garage. No telling how complete etc. so I passed. I have seen photos of the model D ( "T" head engine ) which I believe was used in both the Model D and Model S for 1907 and 1908. It may have looked like this 1909 model 16 but with flat top front fenders open splash apron area and instead of the exposed round fuel tank a single rumble seat. There is a photo on page 52 in the Buick a Complete history 6th edition. The chassis similar to the Model D below. Desertexplorer
Here’s the 1907 Model S frame. It’s the same as the Turtle Back Roadsters in my previous post. Not much of the car left...
