Ausstude
I am looking for replacements for the parts in the attached photo. Mine are badly pitted and I have been advised beyond repair. I am located in Australia and understand the cost of shipping, however keen to hear from anyone who has replacement parts of good quality . Thanks Edited January 31, 2019 by Ausstude No photo attached (see edit history)
Spinneyhill
The pitting can be repaired but will take time. Remove the plating, polish a little and put on a coat of copper electroplate. Use drills or countersinks or whatever to remove the pits and corrosion products. Fill with low temperature platable solder (die-cast metal melts at not much over 200 oC). Sand and polish to the copper surface and restrike with heavy copper. Polish and continue plating to finish. Easy to say, not so easy to do! starlightcoupe
That's not the best photo but, they sure look better than many parts I've had successfully restored and replated.
Ausstude
Thank you for your message. Based on this I will speak with some other restoration places and hopefully get more positive news about my originals. I have attached some better photos as well.
