Working with a 56 year old convertible top

My 55 Sunliner has a top and window that were installed around 63 but could barely see out the rear window,I picked up a window sheet and sewn it in the existing window so it would still match the top. The tops usually rot where they attach to the tack strip since it stays wet there but this one was still soft since it barely stayed outside since being installed, usually the tops are about shot at 10 years if seen a bunch of weather and would never do this with a top this old not knowing the history.

I got thinking that maybe I should have left that fogged up window in so the sun would not fade the interior more but it started to come unsewn and would need to come apart to fix so I had to fix it right,it only had just started to come unsewn but when the trunk would not open while in Florida and I had to go through the well to get the clothes out and get the trunk to open it really started to come apart.
