Thoughts on rebuilding original antenna or aftermarket replacement

As you know I rebuild the original Delco antenna..........  I even wrote a tech article that is posted at www.reatta.net for anyone that want to repair their own.

The main decision.....do you want it original or do you want to put another Chinese part on the car?    You can get a new antenna at almost any parts store or on Ebay for about $35 and up.

In almost all cases you must adapt the replacement antenna to the factory wiring (technical term "splice")  You may also need to adapt the coax.  and it will not look original at the fender where it mounts.

What's anyone's thoughts on any of the replacement antennas versus having the original one rebuilt?

I calculated the original antenna lasted 25yrs + and 128k miles, so having Barney reconstruct mine would likely outlast me. Best deal in my opinion.
