hursst
What is the correct tail light for a 1940 Plymouth (Sedan, if that matters). I have seen them with Mayflower ships on them, raised bumps, like a marble at the bottom, and just "plain." What's correct for '40? Thanks!!! -Chris
keiser31
I believe the left taillight lens has the protrusion (marble) and the right one does not. I could be wrong on this. the item that says, "LETO" may not be correct. Edited December 16, 2017 by keiser31 (see edit history)
Guest
What is the purpose of that protrusion and why only on one?

I believe it was to make the left side brighter, although I cannot be certain. For years, cars mostly had only a left side light, so maybe something to do with that. Plyroadking
That raised marble originally only came on one side, I can't recall which. It has/had a silver reflective coating on the inside.

Doc Hubler
My 40 coupe has the exact same taillamps as shown above, with the raised bump only on the driver's side and that's how I usually see them.
