EDHupp
Just bought a Hupmobile that was sold as a 1931 century 6 S that I plan on restoring. When I looked up the serial number on the Hupmobile Club website, it shows that it may be a 1930. Are there any differences that I should look for that I may be able to decipher which it actually is? huptoy
Hupp Motor Co had minimal changes for the model S from 30 to 31. The temperature gauge was added to the dash. The free wheeling transmission was a major change as indicated with a button at the top of gear shifter. I have been told that some early 1931 Model S cars came without free wheeling. I believe the radiator was changed from 30 to 31. Photos will help.
Hupp36
This pic which is not to good shows the difference in the bottom radiator pan on the 1930 and 1931 Model Hupp. The winter issue of the Hupp Hearld which is a Hupp club magazine 1977 issue is all about the model S and the changes in the 1930 and 1931. My printer died, so I could not scan in pic. I used my smart phone.
EDHupp
Thanks!! I'm almost certain now that it's a 1930, no freewheeling transmission and no temp gauge on the dash. It's in pieces, so it's hard to take good pics of it, and hard to tell on the radiator pan.
