Bill Stoneberg
I need to change the heat / AC actuators in my Electra and I am wondering how to go about it. I can see the actuators from under the hood, but I don't see any nuts or bolts holding them on. I am assuming that they may be attached somewhere but don't know where. Any suggestions on how to get started would be welcome. The shop manual is great at telling me what they do in great detail but a little light on how to change them. avgwarhawk
There are speed nuts on the shafts either side of the vacuum pull. . These keep it bolted to the metal bracket.

Its too nice and I am driving it.
Smartin
Since you have factory AC, I recall that the actuators are attached to the AC evaporator housing, am I correct? That would mean you have to get to the inside of that box to unbolt them. The NON-AC cars just have one actuator that is attached to a metal bracket as Chris said. avgwarhawk
Correct. I have a non AC Electra. If yours are under the dash I would imagine the heater core housing would need to come out. I will have to take a look at my manual. Not sure what you're faced with in a AC car. Bill Stoneberg
It is an AC car. My actuators are on the firewall or on the evaporator housing in the engine compartment. Its getting the housing off that looks like fun. All kinds of hoses and wires. Plus fat boys and fat fenders dont match easily. I will post pictures tomorrow when I get the car out.
