Wheelmang
There is a device on the passenger side of the engine on my 26 DB 6 Volt that has a small BB held in place by what appears to be a bent up ink pen spring. This is just before the line that goes to the oil pressure gauge and also tees off to the upper end of the block. This cannot be as designed. I could not find any info on this in any of my manuals. So - a couple of questions. Is this in fact a check valve? Are the BB and spring necessary? If yes, which I presume, where could I get the correct tension spring? Sorry just no chance right now to send pictures. If needed to answer the question I will post later this week. Thanks all for you valued guidance. MikeC5
My '25 has the same set up. It sure looks like a check valve. I was able to get a good used spring from Myers Early Dodge. As I recall, it is a conical shaped spring (larger diameter at base than tip)
cahartley
t is absolutely necessary or there won't be any pressure to squirt oil into the troughs for the connecting rods....... You can make your own. Straighten out a light spring and wind one around a pencil or something ever smaller. Mind you it takes very little spring tension to provide 4 pounds of pressure. Perhaps by '26 the pressure was higher?
