Grant L. Meredith
OK purists!! Need info here.......were they Black wires or yellow originally?
dibarlaw
Most of the original photos I have seen show Black wires. The photo is of a 1928 Sport Roadster I judged at Portland. The oak colored wires look period for pre 1920 cars. The person I bought my 1925 from had the Oak (yellow) wires on it. When I detailed my engine I did black.
Grant L. Meredith
Ok thank you dibarlaw! My car has black when I bought it. I see both are offered through Bob's. I was wondering which were more period correct.
Grant L. Meredith
Dibarlaw, the photo you provided, is this engine correct in all aspects? Color? I noticed the Buick script is not painted black on side covers.
dibarlaw
Grant: All items are correct in my opinion. The Buick Script would not have been painted. I have seen some people paint it red and one I saw was yellow. Owners preference. The fellow who re-did my 1925 in the 1970s preferred John Deere green. Hardware store can. Even though in his notes he quotes the price and address of the supplier of the correct Buick olive green. Larry
dracenroc
dibarlaw, do you have a picture from the other side of that engine? On 10.4.2017 at 4:27 AM, dibarlaw said: The photo is of a 1928 Sport Roadster I judged at Portland.
dibarlaw
dracenroc: Sorry I only have the ignition side of that car. Here is one of a 1928-58 I took recently. The steering box should be black and the steering column I believe should be nickel plated. I will take more photos when it comes to our car show on June 3rd.
