I wish I would have seen this before spending a lot of money on my old rusty Explorer. Looks great. Three questions:

1. Is this yours?

It is mine, but registered in my daughter's name.

What have you been towing with it?

Never towed anything - I use my Suburban, Excursion, and Avalanche - intended for grandson to have a 4x4 for safe driving to college, but have the capability to tow, if ever needed, and maybe pull a fishing boat for friends - down the bayou

2. What is the towing capacity? The link I found shows anywhere from 5,400 lb to 7,000 lb, depending on your choice of hitch (standard VS Equalizer)        http://hillerford.com/v2/resource_library/2003/2003suvs/2003explorer4dr/03expl4drtrailertow.htm

3. Has it ever been under water? Never, to my knowledge, and no evidence of any rust/corrosion either. This was a North Carolina/South Carolina SUV, bought a few years ago, and brought to Louisiana at that time by our grandson's friend who later needed a pickup. We got it in October, 2014.

West, I've answered your questions (above), and if there is any more information I can provide, get hold of me anytime.

Anyone else with any thoughts, comments, or questions, - I'll do my best to answer as quickly and completely as possible

Per the tag on the differential, this Explorer 4x4 / Automatic 4-wheel-drive has a Differential code: "3L73" which decodes as a 3.73 differential ratio with a Locker-type option:

From the Explorer FORUM:

"have a metal tag that's attached to one of the the rear differential cover bolts. This tag will show what size axle and what ratio you have installed, (example;8.8 3L73 would be an 8.8 inch Ford rearend with 3.73 ratio the "L" will mean it has a locker of some sorts)."

I meant to add that the "L" denotes a Limited-Slip - Locker differential - so if one rear wheel is spinning - where most cars would not move, his type will deliver motivation to the wheel which does have traction

This Eddie Bauer 4x4 is specifically set up for trailering.

It it has the 3L73 which is the  LIMITED SLIP or "LOCKER" type with the 3.73:1 Ratio, both front and rear, giving the best possible towing ability.

I'm not aware of U-Haul's concerns, but cannot imagine any problems since the factory set up is specific to safe trailering, and we always use an equalizer hitch for every towing situation - purely for safety and comfort. Maybe U-Haul uses that in case of a less capable configuration?

You see Explorers towing every manner of trailer whenever you hit the road.
