shelbyone
hey there fellas! anyone substituted their headlight bulbs/stop/tail/blinker/marker/interior lights with equivalent LED's?
Guest EmmettTC
I've done HID headlights with full interior LED, I have the parts ready for exterior but haven't gotten to that yet.
shelbyone
interesting! could you provide details of your headlight conversion? ( make&model) how about LED taillight/turn signal?
Reaper1
I have only done the CHMSL, but have plans to do everything on the car. For the CHMSL I just used LED strips I got at Auto Zone. It works GREAT!

Guest EmmettTC
Okay! I'll cover the basics of all the LED & HID lighting goodness, I have a lot of links for parts but I'll post the important ones. As far as the HID headlights I love the look of the original housing and would hate to muck it up by some mediocre projector lens conversion. The TC is a low sitting car so you don't really have to worry about blinding other drivers with nice looking higher powered lights. Here is a link to the HID kits I use. I swear by this manufacturer and kit, I have installed them 3 time and always work and look great. You guys will be shocked by the price. Our bulb type is 9006 HID kit with ballasts : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/xenon-hid-conversion-kit-55W-H1-H3-H7-H8-H10-H11-H9-H11-H13-9005-9006/1802662135.html INTERIOR, I know it wasn't requested but I'll most some info. there are a few different bulb types in the interior The 2 map lights in the rear-view mirror are a 194 / 168 type but most LED's have trouble fitting in the small slot. The key light by the ignition is also a small 168 The glove box light is a BA9S base but it needs to be the proper polarity to work otherwise you need to swap the wires which can lead to grounding issues. The door lights are 39mm/ 40mm festoon lights which are pretty easy to come across and are the most noticeable interior. The spare tire compartment and trunk are also 40mm festoon lights and here I use super high powered 6 Watt festoon lights that look amazing especially the trunk lighting. Here is a link to the high powered festoon lights : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-6W-High-Power-Canbus-Festoon-42mm-COB-Led-SMD-Dome-Map-Interior-license-plate-Light/1911953050.html The lights in the sun visors are like micro 194/ 168's and I have not seen a compatible LED variety yet. EXTERIOR cont. The rear tail lights are all 1157 / 2057 type, BAY15D base bulbs, I wouldn't cheap out with low cost LED's here. The reverse lights are.. idk, I looked through the Slyvania and Phillips bulb fit guides and ordered what ever they suggested and it is wrong, I promise. The front cornering turn signal lights are 886 / 889 bulb with the H27 base. I forget spec of the lower bumper turn signal and day time running lights, they were some type of 1157 or 1156 base (aka 1 pole or 2 pole BAY15 base) I'm pretty sure. MOST IMPORTANT FOR EXTERIOR LEDS RELATING TO TURN SIGNALS : This guy, a NO LOAD flasher modual for our cars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/No-Load-LED-Tail-Light-Flasher-for-Painless-Wiring-Harness-car-12v-conversion-/161584413945 I could go on for days. Let me know any specific lighting questions, I promise I'll provide a better answer than the light manufacturers lighting guides haha

shelbyone
emmetttc! thanks so much for your input! was trying to find a "cheaper" led flasher but always came back to the one you posted! the HID conversion kit is on sale - the price is really unbeatable.. and yeah, post some pics! question: if I replace the taillights with this http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-1157-Red-SMD-LED-Turn-Signal-Brake-Light-Bulbs-/191571031817?hash=item2c9a85f709:g:v-oAAOSweW5VCJTZ&vxp=mtr would that be a sufficient substitute? or do I need specific dual function LED's? Guest EmmettTC
I believe those should work since they claim to interchange with the 1157 , 2057 and 2357 spec. Those all use the 2 pole base so that should work properly.
shelbyone
thanks! just ordered..they should come next week, along with the LED flasher you suggested! update with pics will follow! appreciate your input!
shelbyone
voila! installed the LED flasher and 4 x52 LED taillights for $9! ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/191571031817?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and the difference is significant...love the new look and the fact that the oh so dimm original taillights are now highly visible!
