Michael was born October 18, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hal Major Derbidge and Helen Singleton Derbidge. He grew up and attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School. He also attended Idaho State University where he received his Political Science degree. He then went on to the University of Chicago, where he received his MBA. On August 15, 1970, he married his "Sweetie Pie" Judyth L. Byington at the First Lutheran Church in Pocatello, Idaho. To this union were born three children, Domini, Aron, and Adam. Michael and Judyth made their home in Idaho Falls, where Michael worked more than 30 years for the Argonne National Laboratory, ending his career there as the Chief Operating Officer. He was President of the national Veteran Motor Car Club of America (VMCCA). Michael loved touring the country and enjoyed many adventures seeing the sights with his Sweetie Pie, Judyth, and all of his old car friends. Michael was a proud grandfather and loved to spend time doting over his four granddaughters. He was always greeted with an enthusiastic "Papa!" when his girls were near as they all enjoyed their time with him. Michael was loved deeply and has left a lasting impression on all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judyth Derbidge of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Domini (Kevin) Clark of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Aron (Jennifer) Derbidge of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Adam (Megan) Derbidge of Charlotte, NC; brother, Warren (Pat) Derbidge of Boise, ID; brother, Dale (Linda) Derbidge of Ely, NV; sister, Johanna (Chuck) Fitzgibbons of North Liberty, IA; granddaughters, Saura and Zella Clark, and Isabelle and Mya Derbidge, all of Idaho Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to VMCCA at vsecretary@vmcca.org or 7501 Manchester Ave. Kansas City MO 64138. Our hobby seems to get weaker as these veterans take with them the knowledge that can never be replaced. My sincere condolences to his friends and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace!
