erichill Posted February 28, 2016 Share Posted February 28, 2016 He may not have said it, but I think he means at this point it is cheaper to employ people than the robots. This will change, as there is no doubt a robot would be able to deal with any number of options as its all a matter of programing. TerryB Posted February 29, 2016 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Sometimes you need the robot to "think" but that option is difficult to implement if there is insufficient data for it to analyize correctly. A human car make these adaptations quickly based on the limited information he may have. Programming takes time and money and usually requires down time to test and implement. Body construction and paint increased in quality by quite a bit when robotics came in because of the deadly repetitive nature of that work, and the type of person who was put into those jobs.
