Vintagecarguy
Are 1949 Dodge Wayfarer mechanical parts any different from other Dodge mechanical parts of the same year? I read somewhere that because the Wayfarer is a little rarer that parts would be harder to locate? Is this true? I would assume that mechanical parts would be the same if not similar. Thanks in advance. Vintagecarguy.
keiser31
Most, if not all of the mechanical parts are the same. The body and doors are the only real differences. Edited November 11, 2015 by keiser31 (see edit history)

Taylormade
Because of the shorter wheelbase, parts of the transmission and possibly the driveshaft are different on the Wayfarer models. The back case of the transmission is different, not utilizing the extended housing used on the full sized cars. I'm not sure about the driveshaft, as the shorter transmission may make up for the difference in the wheelbase. The motor, rear-end, brakes and the basic transmission is the same.
