Harold
I recently found the original gas cap from my wife's 1966 Mustang. She took it off her car around 1972 to install a locking cap. If you shake it, it rattles. Is there some sort of anti-slosh valve or vent assembly in there? I've never run across anything like this before and I'm curious as to what it is. Thanks for your ideas. oily rag
Didn't the Mustangs have a cable going between the cap and the rear body panel ?The end of a cut off cable may be inside.
Harold
Good idea but doesn't look that way. The rattle is coming from inside the domed section of the cap where the locking ears are located. The cable was connected to a loop which is still on the cap. If I shake the cap back and forth it almost sounds like there is something flapping around in there (anti-spill vent possibly).
