1963 With a/c fuel line hose size

Ok have engine bay cleaned and painted. Getting ready to run new fuel line/hose. My feed which looks original is 5/16. Return is 1/4. I see everyone else's discuss there 3/8 feed line. What gives is 63 use smaller 5/16 and in 64 went to 3/8. Should I upgrade to 3/8 or leave it 5/16?

Use 5/16" for the supply and 1/4" for the return.

 Jim,  does that mean that there are two different filters?  My '64 took the 1/4" return and 3/8" inlet hose.  Are there differences in the fuel pumps as well?

I checked the aftermarket filter inlet and the 3/8 had some resistance but not what is expected. Especially if using a spring clamp. I couldn't find the NOS filter I bought, going to search again tonight.

The brand I used was Gates.

barricade fuel injector hose (MPI) It will show all sizes 1/4 , 5/16, 3/8

The O.D.(INCH) 9/16 for 5/16 hose.

The O.D.(INCH) 5/8 for 3/8 hose.

Well I finally got the fuel line hose in, had to go with a 5/16 line, the 3/8 line was to big to fit through some holes in frame, any way about a hour later got it in.

I just replaced the fuel line hose on my '64 today.  It look 5/16" on the supply line and 1/4" on the return.
