1939 Valve cover Color - big block

Recommended Posts

I ordered to vendor specification, paint for valve/spark plug covers for my '39 Buick and it was shipped as gray when they are currently black. What is correct? Also does anyone know the paint color for the dry air cleaner. It looks like a gun metal type paint - has a nice luster.

Thanks, John

Billy is correct. Engines are all grey including valve and spark plug covers. Air cleaner is not quite gloss black but not quite satin black. Bypass hose and clamps are grey as they were on the engine when it was sprayed in production.Intake manifold is grey. Surprisingly the exhaust manifold caught the grey spray as it was already attached to the intake; obviously the paint burned off quickly.
