Guest Mr. Willie
I recently purchased a 1969 Buick Electra 225 that had a brake problem. I replaced the master cylinder, brake booster, new front brake shoes, new front brake line. The fluid is going through the line but the brakes are still not stopping. Can anyone help me with this problem?
JohnD1956
Are you saying the brake pedal goes to the floor and there is no brake application or that there is sufficient brake pedal travel but the car is hard to stop? Or are you saying it is hard to push the brake pedal? And now for a few additional questions:Did you replace both front brake lines? or just one?Did you replace the metal line, or the flexible lines? How do you know the fluid is traveling through the lines? Were you able to bleed all four wheel cylinders after you put on the new master cylinder? Have you replaced the rear brake lines? Have you adjusted the brake shoes so that you can hear them lightly scraping the drums when you rotate the drums by hand? Do you know, for a fact, that all the springs are in place on the brake shoes at each wheel? Please advise.
NTX5467
AND . . . per a somewhat "old" thread by Old-Tank, what BRAND of shoes did you get (as that CAN make a difference, sometimes)? Were the "new" items mentioned New Old Stock or "Autosupply new"? Please advise.NTX5467
