bob duffer
I have everything all greased up under the car and i had a question about the steering gear box and the water pump . In my 1934 buick book it calls forchassis lube for the steering gear but when i took the plug off there is some runny fluid in there not grease. The water pump calls for 'SPECIAL LUBE' ,,which i am not knowing what that is. Mark Shaw
Bob, Use the heaviest gear oil you can find. I use SAE 250 WT gear oil.
Phillip Robinson
Normally the old oil was 600w. But you cannot get that in Australia. The conversion is now 160 oil. I was advised to use 140 being the closest oil, which has been confirmed by Penrite. Note- kI was told not to use 250, only the 140 gear oil fpr gearbox and diff. As far as water pump goes, it os a special grease, l have heard of one person using a marine grease if you can't get the other. Phillip Robinson
Sorry, the special lube can be obtained from Penrite. It is thick and clear. Phil
