AK Buickman
The windshield on my '49 Super Sedanet leaks water. The glass is not cracked, just that the rubber glass channel is probably hard as a rock because it is original. What is the most effective method to reseal the windshield without breaking the glass or creating bigger problems? R&R the glass and install brand new rubber channels or just remove the windshield trim and apply glass sealant in the glass channel? Do the replacement windshield channels currently being sold fit OK?Is it easy to R&R the windshield glass on this car?Gary Klecka, BCA #1955'49 Super Model 56S Sedanet
Bhigdog
Alas, if you wish to fix the problem correctly replace the WS gasket. Check with Steele rubber for availability. If they sell it, it will fit..................Bob
Smartin
I think it is harder to remove the old windshield than installing a new one back in. It takes some time to cut the old rubber (hard as rock) gasket and remove without breaking the glass. But that is definitely what needs to happen. No shortcut answer there.
