Question regarding firewall seal material

Recommended Posts

On my '64 I've removed the metal and plastic A/C and heater air ducts in the engine bay (refer to photos to see what I'm describing). post-85697-143142658019_thumb.jpg

I've got them cleaned up nicely and almost ready to go back in. Which is the correct sealing material to make a tight seal between these pieces and the firewall? On the OPGI web site I've found 3M Strip Caulk for $33 located here: http://www.opgi.com/riviera/1964/gaskets-seals/adhesives/CH25062/.

Is this the best sealing material to use?

Thanks in advance.

Looks good Eric. The 3M strip caulk is the way to go. You can get that at your local parts store for much less than OPG's price. Keep your fingers/palms a little moist with water while working with the strip caulk so it won't stick to your fingers and you can work it nicely to form a neat seal.

The 3M strip caulk is the ticket. Like willy said its available at your local parts store. I bought the exact same stuff from Napa for half the price. Don't buy anything from OPG until u do a little leg work first. Half of the stuff they sell can be found elsewhere for less money. But if you rather order stuff online then here's a link from Amazon for the same 3M caulk for $18
