TC's what's the difference?

Recommended Posts

Hemi asked me if I could take a look and see what I could do to get the oldest surviving TC back into good running condition and while I was under the hood to take some pictures. The 89 Maroon is the oldest surviving, the 90 White one is mine.

The Cabernet one is a very early 6/88 build, they changed quite early in production to the type carried through the 1991 models. My 11/88 built 89 has the later style.

Speaking of hood struts...what is the part number for the '89 with the inboard mounting position on the hood, like your white one in the pics??

No part number for my struts. I bought my $18.95ea replacement hood stuts off the rack at Fleet Farm where they sell farm, implement and gardening stuff. Strength, length and fittings, mine aren't what you will get if you order for the car.

My '89 was built in 11/88, also, and has struts like the white one in the first pic. All my struts have 'Stabilus' on them. Is that the factory brand, or have these been replaced?

Digger, now that you have the old TC running well again, how about a picture of the whole car, maybe even with the vintage owner, when he stops in for his accumulator.

Is this Guinness book worthy? In the back is the oldest know operating TC and at 90+ years old, could the oldest TC be driven by the oldest TC owner operator?

OK, now we have Bob, that will qualify for the owner, but a nice profile shot of the TC would be appreciated some time in the future.

Thanks Digger.
