Generally you'll find that there are "networks" not only for particular marques (like Chevy), but also for eras, models or even a years of that marque. Once you buy the car, try to tap into such a network. It may be a club, a chapter in that club (one dealing with particular years, not geographical areas) or even a non-organized group of people within (or outside) the club. Or even a "group" on the internet. Once you're a part of that network, you'll find that fellow members will often bend over backwards to help you find your part or share technical knowledge with you, because you all share an interest in the same type of car. All the available parts "out there" are not necessarily advertised for sale!

If someone simply follows the standard procedures in his parts search (combing the ads in Hemmings, posting parts needs at various internet forums, contacting well-known parts vendors) and he doesn't attempt to tap into the network, he ignores an invaluable tool for finding parts (and good friends too).

You should post your question on the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America forum. See link. It wouldn't hurt to join the club too. A make specific club has lots of advantages. My interchange manual says for transmission the that you should look for 1933-36 Master and 1/2 ton truck (not W. M. Warner transmission), Pontiac P6 to engine # 6-46474, Pontiac P8 to engine # 8-27162 and GMC 1935-36 T14 1/2 ton truck. The rear axle is 1933-35 Master and 1/2 ton truck. The 1936 Master, 1/2 ton truck and GMC 1936 T14 1/2 ton truck can made to fit by machining an offset on inner side of flange to fit 1934 brake drum.
