Buick wheel rims

Hi

Could some learned person tell me what colour the wheel rims should be on my 1930 Buick 40 Bus. Coupe. The car is at present pale blue with pale blue / red wheel spokes ( wood wheels ) I assume black or silver but not sure , I am about to put her on a set of Goodrich white walls.

If they are wood wheels, I believe they should be natural wood color. If you go to the BCA home page and click on documents then judging manual, the charts for color are all listed.

The standard wheel rims (metal) would be painted. The wood spokes would also be painted, probably body color. Natural finish was an option (unlikely in a inexpensive business coupe). The tire rims would be cadmium plated. Red is dead wrong I believe.

I think the rims should be black, the rim catalog shows cad plated up to about 1926 ????? then black after.

I'll check the book later.

I think you are right. I have a rim I took off a junkyard '31-80 almost 50 years ago - stored inside and it is painted black. I'd guess that the '30's are the same

I checked the book and Buick 1927 to at least 1931, used a Jaxon #34 rim and is was black.

Thank you very much guys, I have a '26 also and that shows plating under the paint, but could not find any plating under the '30 rims, they are at present silver but have some black paint underneath, I think black should look good, as I am treating the old girl to a set of BFG whitewalls ! Will post a pic when she is re shod Tim

Is the Jaxon 34 a split rim? I have a 28 Buick model 47S came with wheels but no rim- have seen 3 types of 21 inch x 3 1/2 inch wide - all different
