  1. I think the original was felt John
  2. Hugh, I think only the 1923 cage valve engines used steel timing gears. As a set (3) they will fit in older engines, this could explain why some older engines have steel gears. John 1922-6-55 .
  3. Terry, #62987 will fit models 41---47 the 48---55 long wheelbase uses a larger brg #65427 Still looking for the mirror bracket. John 22-6-55
  4. The metal gears started in 1923, and they will fit the older engines. John

  10. The late 22 and all 23 6cyl have an oil feed to the center mains. My car 856901 has that change , it looks like it can be fitted to the older engines (pump and lines). John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  11. Before you order new pistons, have the bores checked for taper. I have found that #6 bore wears the most. Good luck, John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  12. The gas tank on the model 41 has the same part #158835 as the model 55 sport touring. See Lief's last post. The reason for the longer filler neck is that it has to go through the wood trunk platform. Send a PM John
  13. I can send you some pics and dimensions, it is the same shape as the one you have just longer. John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  14. I think the gas tank has been replaced. With a factory trunk the gas filler should be outside of the right frame rail .The trunk sits on a wood platform . It should be a 22 gal tank like the models 54 and 55 use, and the gauge should say 22 gal When I get home I can post a copy of the parts book page. John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  15. It looks like it is a model 41 I guess the body is a little shorter to make room for the trunk platform . Also the 23 6 cyl use an alum cam gear and the reverse shift pattern. It is a good looking car, you will enjoy driving it. John, 22-6-55 Sport touring
  16. Hi, It looks like a model 41, because of the trunk, but I think the 41 has a 124" wb I think a model 40 would have 118" The body tag should be above the right toe board should say 23-6-41? Where are you located? A pic of the back would help id There are many of us that would be willing to help. Welcome, John 1922-6-55 Sport touring
  17. It looks correct for my 22-55 If someone there can confirm it with fit a 21 to 23 6cyl steering shaft that would be great. John 1922-6-55 Sport touring
  18. A copy of Dave Chambers article in Antique Automobile , I think April 1971. John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  19. 1925? 7 pass model 49. Njce car John 22-6-55 Sport touring
  20. Brian, The tail light for the 54 and 55 has two nickle trim rings, I think that is the only diff. The 54 with wire has the spare on the back with a special mounting bracket. John 22-6-55
  21. The same for me, but Chicago was the city on mine. I sent Terry a pm about it the same day. John
  22. If 1923 is the same I have an extra steering box. John 1922-6-55 Sport touring
  23. There are many companys that repair iron castings. It would have to be very bad to be unrepairable. You may be lucky and find a good block to use. Good Luck, John
