Bobby Rodd
I'd like to swap out my '37 40 series differential with that of a '37 60 Series. I have the gears and torque tube from the 60. How difficult is this to do? Who do I go to to get this done?
1937-44
I've never done the swap, although I admit I've been tempted on occasion. There were a few articles written in the Torque Tube about swapping the gears. You can find the old Torque Tubes here; http://www.1937and1938buicks.com/information_links/information_links.htm Hopefully you can find them and they will help. DonMicheletti
I have worked on '38's, however I expect the 37's are similar. On the '38's the 40 series - 60 series difference is the torque tube splines that go into the transmission. The 60 series torque tube splines are bigger and will not fit into the 40 series transmission (which is considerably smaller). If you can check the '37 shop manual, the rear end specifications should bge given at the end of the rear end section.Don
