Guest Orange Fan
I aquired this air compressor about 40 years ago and was told it was off an old car used to air up tires. Any one have any idea if this is true. The casting mark on the crankcase is DA&B. Stamped below the casting mark it is stamped 311-F. The mounting brackets are made of wood. Measurements are, 9 " to top of cylinder. Center to center of mounting brackets 9". Width of crankcase 3.25 ". Out side to outside of mounting brackets 2.875". Any help will be appreciated. Owen_Dyneto
Many makes of premium cars prior to about 1930 carried or offered a transmission or engine-mounted compressor for tire inflation. Whether yours is one of those I have no way of knowing.
dei
I belong to a Car Club / Museum that owns a Marmon which has an air compressor. If you have pictures you could post maybe someone could help you identify. I'm not close to the Museum but when I get out there, will take a few pictures and post when I can. Rusty_OToole
Cadillac used an air compressor in the twenties and earlier. They pressurised the gas tank instead of a fuel pump. You could pump up your tires too. The compressor was built onto the transmission. Pictures would help identify your compressor.
